They're obsessed with that X3. I drove one, towing a tin tent, and was appalled by the racket the engine made. I also suggested to the What Car? driver that was there that he went out and got 50 mpg. Needless to say the latter challenge was declined as "in the real World it wasn't possible", but I was talking out of my backside about the noise. That was until another driver said, "isn't it unrefined".

I've recently driven a new d3.0 M Sport X3. ...nicely finished motor.... very quick ..hard ride though. Not a 4x4...or utility vehicle in the truest sense ...but a decent road car and a big improvement on the old model. Fail to see how its remotely comparable to the D 4 tbh ..but hey it's just a magazine opinion I guess. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
