|
Hi
I have a blown turbo on my 2006 LR D3. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get to it and replace?
Cheers

Not fun at all
Lots of threads on here.
Remove exhaust and drop in out the bottom
Remove front prop
Also work thru wheel arch and remove upper suspension arm for easy access
Need to make a custom tool to undo nuts

Just as I thought. It’s sounds like it’s a royal pain... I might just offer it up for spares which would be an ashame but hey such is life.

The lack of power and a ton of smoke coming out of the exhaust. I have experienced this before on my TD5 which is why I know it’s the turbo.

Have you checked your intercooler hose?
If its good you have a siezed actuator on the turbo which can be fixed without needing to remove the turbo.

Using a dpf cleaner every now and then will also help it from the inside as well.

I haven’t checked, hopefully it’s that simple. Thanks for this.

I agree, I would check the hose first. Mine was the same, big 3 inch split at the top 👍🏻

Not just the big one either, check the two small ones on the passenger side as well.
The turbo is a pain, but not impossible, like Pete has said loads of post's on here for help, its the hardest getting it off, putting it back is much easier, I did my own on my drive, on my back, take your time.
