Disco 3 GS Spec - How is "sat-Nav" cubby attached to dash?

Hi all,

Am looking at doing a bit of work to add a 7" Lenovo tablet to a Disco 3 poverty spec, thus it's got no aux input and no current sat-nav screen. Done it on my own Disco 4 and it was super easy, but never on a D3 before.

My first hurdle that I'm trying to solve is: How does the little cubby area, (which is were the sat-nav screen sits in higher spec models) actually attach to the dash? Can it simply be unscrewed, or does it actually have to be cut from the upper dash? For clarity, I've added this image below. I mean the cubby in-between the two vents.

Secondly, can anyone tell me what size diagonally the HSE spec sat-nav bezel is? Is it the same size as the D4? If so, can one simply remove the cubby bit of the dash, and fit a 7" Disco 4 HSE spec bezel?

Cheers in advance for the help.

Ugh, so it has to be carefully "cut" off, correct?

Does that mean that the dash for a pov spec and an HSE spec is entirely different??

Not sure tbh, you could try making up a bracket to hold the tablet and just drill the holes for the cables. Try some of the reversing camera sites and see if they have a bracket that can be modified!

I think the dash is same on both as there is only one product code and lrcat is usually correct.

The screen is separate, http://new.lrcat.com/#!/12128/45758/46381/3630/46384.

It would make sense for it to be the same, but I don't see how it can be. Unless I'm being thick.

If you look at this video, showing the sat-nav being removed, you can clearly see how it all fits together and the 'hole' thats left once you remove the sat-nav unit:

So, does the "cubby" hole in the pov spec attach to the same fittings that the sat-nav unit attaches to...?

EDIT: I found this other video showing that the cubby seems pretty firmly attached to the dash: (skip to 5:48 to see what I mean).

I've seen another post on here where someone upgraded their sat nav, and mentioned something about cutting the cubby bit off (I can't find the original post now though)!
