Disco 3 -judder under acceleration
Hi, my 2006 disco 3 tdv6 has developed a judder only in 3rd gear under load . Mileage is 111k . I have read that gearbox oil flush can help, but had 10 year service at specialist and they said it was done. Could it be torque converter and can you get reconditioned ones of should it be new one . Any specialists on here recommended. I am in Kent

Is it worth trying a gearbox flush and how much would that cost?

In my opinion its not worth doing a gearbox flush as it will only delay a new TC - its better to change TC and renew gearbox oil but I'm mechanic just talking from experience.

Thanks for the reply. I have read about transmission flushes only working for a few weeks before the symptoms return so I dont want to pay out twice. Seems like a logical recommendation

Check your propshafts first as could be a lot cheaper than the replacement TC.
Possibly rear prop with a collapsing centre housing or front prop? Possibly both?
Sounds like you got most things covered so far but no mention of the propshafts, (these are not the driveshafts).
Had a similar experience.

Thanks, I will check this ( or at least a mechanic friend will) . I had one replaced and I have noted a metallic clunk from underneath

Worth a look, could save you lots, from your reply you could be reffering to driveshafts?
These could be at fault?
I'm also suggesting check the 2 propshafts (that connect the differentials to the engine and gearboxes).

+1 for prop shafts mine was very bad found the rear bearing had gone. Changed that then still had a noise and vibration checked the front and the CV joint had gone dry no grease left in it at all see picture changed that and all is now good.

Stick a tube of Dr Tranny in (10 mins). If the problem improves you've found the problem
