Hi all first post, picked up our SE 2006 silver a week ago and still smiling 'what a car' had a TD5 GS fot 8 years but this is something else, the wife will use it every day for short runs to work and back and to pull our caravan. noticed yesterday the car was averaging 41 mph on the m42 and was wondering how accurate is this.
Thanks

How long/far was it running for to give you an average of 41mpg?
I came back from Coventry to North Leeds in Oct and averaged 29mpg on cruise at 70mph.
I reckon I could have increased that ever so slightly without cruise on.
Hope that helps
Mine was silver too so yours should be the same mpg

Not so fast chaps! Like me, Mikey is driving a manual, which LR reckons to be ~15% more fuel efficient than an auto.
My recent trip from London to Pickering averaged 33MPG including some crawling in tailbacks and quite a lot of not very efficient 85~90MPH cruising. Using the LR 15% rule, I guess the equivalent trip in an auto would be ~28MPG? Does that sound right, auto people?
Mikey - If you reset the computer while on the M-way and were cruising between 60-70 - i.e. only measuring in the most efficient band - then 41MPG is possible (albeit not sustainable over a decent sample). Around town 22-24MPG is consistent with what I see. Andrew

Strong tailwind can make the difference, need about sixty knots though to acheive 41MPG
