Yay, finally found a decent disco 3 - 2005, se but spec to hse level 65000 miles, 2 owners full LR service history.
Going back to double check it over tomorrow in daylight, any tips on what to look for and check ?
Also how does the pre heat work on them ?

Check service history, preferably LR dealer (or good known indie)
Make sure everything and I mean EVERYTHING works as it should, drive in low range as well as normal High, raise/lower suspension, check function of park brake etc 
Aux heater is fully automatic (unless modified) and only operates when below conditions are met:-
Temp at or below 5 deg C, engine coolant below 75 deg C, A/C in 'auto' mode and the engine is running, as soon as either ambient or coolant temp increases above these threshold values the FBH will discontinue. Never get mad - get even !!
