Disco 4 - 18" wheels?

I'm looking at getting a second set of wheels for winter tyres - I live in the far NW of Scotland. I've recently bought a 65 plate D4 - after my D2 was written off in an accident.

I'd hoped that my spare Disco 2 wheels / tyres would fit - but whilst the PCD is the sme, the bore is smaller on the D2, so no go.

I've seen a set of 18" wheels that the seller claims will fit a D4, but I'm uncertain - can anyone help?!

Those deffo won’t fit on a D4. Thumbs Up

Well, to get techie, they won’t fit on your D4. They will fit on very early D4’s with the 2.7 engine, but not 3.0 engined cars.

PS U need 19” and above.

There are a few companies doing 18" for the D4 now - compomotive alloys, tuffant steels and speedline have just released a suitable alloy too. But you'll pay for them, over £1000 a set I believe for all of them.

A cheap set of D3 HSE 19" alloys can be had for £150.

Thanks DSL & J@ames

I was curious as to whether 18" wheels fitted generally - the Disco owners handbook gives a spec for 18" winter tyres, but (I think) I'd picked up comments that the D4 brakes were larger and wouldn't allow clearance with most 18" wheels.

I'll look to pick up a set of secondhand 19" wheels - but being in a remote area, always worth checking out locally available items!

this is no help to you but the 18s will fit the rear but the front 18s need about 3mm shaved from the front caliper carrier I know this as I still have the 18s with Pirelli atr's that I got from dsl for my d3 sitting in the workshop Laughing one day I will get around to fitting them on my d3 but the current atr's that are fitted don't seem to be wearing away (been fitted for about 4yrs) Rolling Eyes

I've just been speaking to someone who had a set of original LR 18" fitted to an early D4. Are the later D4s different? Or do some LR 18" wheels fit?

He's too far away for me to go and give them a try.

Early D4's had the 2.7L engine and smaller brakes from the D3.

No LR 18" rims will fit your D4.

LR 18" rims only fit on the early D4's with the 2.7L and brakes from the D3.

LR 18" rims will not fit over brakes that are standard fit with the D4 3.0L

Or any 3.0 D4 unless someone has changed the factory fitted front brakes.

As above, there are aftermarket 18” rims that will fit. 👍
