Thank you for all the inputs, the problem I observe is:
1. The oil reading always displays "Not available" no matter what I do - I tried to check it in the morning on a cold engine as well.
2. It doesn't seem to react to the "press Cruise Cancel two times in 2 seconds". Either I am doing something incorrectly or something is stuck in the car's "software".

Also, not working start-stop most probably means that I need to replace the main battery anyway.

If the battery current state doesn't affect the oil reading, I see only these remaining options to try:
a) hard reset - I hope it won't have any negative consequences on the car.
b) inspect the oil level sensor for leaks.
c) check oil readings with a diagnostic tool

Questions:

Does anyone know (or have any photos) where the oil level sensor is located? My understanding is that there should be some external cables around the sump which are inspected for oil leaks - are they accessible simply under the car or it requires disassembly?

Anyone knows a good mechanic with the right diagnostic tools not far from Gloucestershire/Bristol area?

Quick update: hard reset didn't make any difference. I'm starting to suspect that I will have to deal with the same situation as described in this topic: https://www.disco4.com/forum/anyone-sump-d4-engine-182639.html

Make sure you open your bonnet before pressing the "Cruise Cancel twice" otherwise it will not work.

You could try MJ Fews, now an approved LR workshop, rather than a dealership, always found them to be excellent

Update: the issue has been fixed!

I went to MJ Fews as @Peakwayfarer suggested. They found a fault in the oil level sensor circuit. On inspection they found that the connector was not properly latched - they cleaned and reinserted it. Now the oil level is displayed just fine.

Also, to confirm what @Weyboat wrote above - the bonnet has to be opened for the "press twice Cruise Cancel" to work - it works now for me just fine, the oil level is displayed straight away (despite the reading may not be accurate enough).

Thank you everyone for help!

Also, wait at least 30s for reading to settle after clicking any buttons.
