Looking at the service docs, apart from brake fluid change nothing has been done extra, I can’t see a Disco doing that mileage without new brake pads for instance and highly likely unless it has been driven very carefully, new brake discs or tyres, unless the tyres are very close to the legal limit.
Try and locate the previous owner to check is my advice, ask where the other work was done and talk to them, I did and they sent me the full history as they where none LR but carried out an examintion and check up on it every 12 weeks from new Shocked. The owner ran a fleet of commercial vehicles and this was put through the books as one of them for servicing, it was only used for the school trip by his wife.

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Hi,
doing the services does NOT validate the warranty as it was still outside of the Recommended service Interval

and that is direct from landrover as I asked the same question when looking at a car over 12 months ago that had gone about 18 months between services, think the exact reply was along the lines of
"we will review each claim individually to see if the late service would affect the claim" Question

you can almost see the reply already "sorry its not covered! Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation

it still about the deal but as said In writing from Landrover not just the selling dealer please

Thumbs Up

So worst case senario, the crank snaps like a twiglet (which they have form for) and you phone LRCS to say “it’s in 3 year warranty, new engine please”, they say “incomplete service history, whistle for it”. After the 3 year warranty they will just laugh at you, whether you can prove the “missing” service was done or not. Good luck getting anything watertight from the dealer, they’ll give you general waffle re goodwill etc and when push comes to shove point you towards LRCS, see above.

Thanks for the replies.

However the dealership have carried out both services in the last couple of days to 'validate the warranty'

Not sure how that would work as the service has to be carried out within a certain timescale/mileage of what is required.
For instance 12 month service can be carried out a few weeks before or after the 12 month period but once outside that time scale it has not been serviced within the spec of LR and is as good as no service at all in their eyes

Doing 2 services within a couple of days of each other an expecting that to work with LRCS is seriously taking the weewee. It won’t! You need something watertight from the supplying dealer, which they won’t do. These cars can range from totally reliable to complete money pits, effectively not having any warranty on the engine is total madness.

I really need to see how this affects the warranty. I'll go in a see what they say. My heart sank when i found the service schedule to be honest. It's all starting to smell. How can it be 'approved' if it hasn't officially had a service. I have a BMW with extended BMW warranty. I have always had it serviced at my local indy and never had a problem with warranty work at the dealers. Could it be the case that it has been serviced at an indy and not showing up online?

Another thing, the dealer is 4 hours away from me. Would i be able to go to any dealer for warranty work (if its covered) like with the BMW?

If it was done at an Indi, great, well to a point. You need to prove that to LRCS if anything goes wrong. Plus if you have had a service done by an Indi, and can prove it, you can kiss away any goodwill from LRCS after 3 years warranty runs out. Yes, you can get warranty work done anywhere at a LR stealer but only if signed off by LRCS, so back to proving the service was actually done.

An Indy should have been able to update the online system i guess.

Excuse my ignorance, is LRCS Customer Services?

Sorry, yes LRCS = LR Customer Services. I’ve never heard of an indi uodating the service history, others here will know if they can or can’t. Thumbs Up

Thank you. The link i posted above shows instructions on how Indys apply JLR to be able to update the service schedule, so it looks like it can be done.

I never go to view a car having already bought it in my head as it can be a disaster. I'm actually flying to the dealership (flight was £30) and there is a hire car place next door for me to get home if need be!

I'm just miffed that typically the one i decide to go to view i find out the day before about this. Grrr

LR customer service are completely useless

If it gives doubts, run now whilst you can and still have your money in your pocket.
They will not give a hoot when they have your money.

Go with your gut instinct.
