Disco 4 cross link valve test?

Good evening, any advise available would be very welcome;

I have just has both from lower arms replaced on the discovery including the tie rods and since having it done the slow speed ride has become extremely harsh, every small imperfection seems to crash through the dash board. I have a GAP iid and have chalked and calibrated the suspension, I can see no drop over night and all heights are measuring well. Does this sound like a failed cross link valve and if so is there a way for testing it with the IID at all? Many thanks in advance đź‘Ť

Hi thanks for your reply, yes it did have a Hunter 4 wheel alignment in tight tolerance mode and a steering calibration. It’s even gone back to be rechecked on alignment again but they say everything in ok.

Many thks , good call with regards to what @darrind mentions ref what type of bushings etc were fitted

Also wonder if not preloading it would have any bearing on the issue

Daft question if I may plse, are the tyre pressures ok plse as maybe they inflated them too much ??

Assume the compressors output is also ok , apologises if you’ve already seen the chart

Oh ok, many good questions. Only some I have an answer for; with regards the brand of arm/bush, I don’t seem to have any specific information on any invoices and from a layman’s look, can’t see any infor on lower arms. I believe poly bushes are red? Mine are black, but thats as much as I have. With regards torquing them up, I believe they were done preloaded.

Good call re tyre pressures, this was the first thing I tested adjusted and retested both with a pressure Guate and the cars own system.

Now regards the compressor output, this is all new to me and the data I am receiving from live view seems varied. I have had the pressure after access to normal height achieved rise up to 1750kpa then drops after the valves opens to a resting 102kpa but the resting low has also been 140kpa and 170kpa on previous checks. Neither of these match your chart. Is the data record needed at a certain setting?

I have also been keeping an eye on the height sensor voltages at normal height they are front right and rear left 2.9v, front left and rear right 1.9v. That seems odd too?

Many thanks for all help received, even if I don’t get a final answer it is great to gain a better understanding!

Hi,

did you manage to get to the bottom of this?

I have identical symptoms, new arms, not poly bushes, torqued under load, tyre pressures fine, I'm looking at cross link valves, wondering if you went down this route
