It's making me worry about my choice! £36,000 is a lot of money for me to spend on a car!!!
Surely Disco's can't be as unreliable as this web-site is making out!

I've done over 8,000 miles since last December (and driven for only half of that time due to working away) and I've had no problems other than a squealing foot-brake, especially while reversing.
The squeal was fixed under warranty when the D4 went in for its software upgrade. Very occasionally I hear the beginnings of a squeak when reversing and breaking at the same time, but it's nothing like as bad as it was before.

It depends of how many miles you drive...
I was going to buy a defender instead of a D4. But after a journey from Bristol to Hatfield and back the decison was easy - a D4.
Yes, the Defender has character and is cool etc etc, but it was a hard drive and I had a headache all the next day !!!
its not a long journey car - god knows how people cope driving thousands of miles on expeditions !!!Duncan

If I didn't have to do lots of motorway trips then a 110 Defender would be spot on, but as others have said, no matter how cool they are they are just not great places to be for long journeys.
The idea of a D3 + an older Defender is my idea of car heaven (if only I had the cash or the will power to keep them for longer than 3 months )2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Hmmmmm, any good?? Was gonna look at one of those when SWMBO's D3 is up for replacement. Does it like unscheduled trips to the stealers like D3s do??

Mmm, they are a bit harsh... cant compare with the D3 or D4 IMO.
The engine was a bit "commercial" when i test drove one and gearbox not much better. I would rather have a defender..
But nice colour and tyres Duncan

Agree, ride is harsh compared to a D3 and engine a bit noisy but so far has been super reliable (76k on clock) and value for money is hard to beat, this one only cost £10k. Wouldn't buy a new one but great used bargain IMHO.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
