Should know a bit more tomorrow, but I'd bet it's going to have a few surprises. JLR are not stupid, they know it's got big boots to fill (pardon the pun).

I can't wait to see it in the flesh and drive it. There's no point in judging it before you've seen it. Besides, what else is there?

There might, possibly, be a very small chance that they are stupid Sad

I've just been looking at a FFRR as a potential next move, even if it is bankruptcy inducingly expensive; they've managed to design what is, effectively, a very large estate car with a back seat that can't be folded anywhere near flat Evil or Very Mad

This is really basic stuff! Who signs it off? Shocked

Yes but the full fat is not about load lugging, it's about ultimate luxury. I struggled to get 2 sets if golf clubs in one, but it had the most awesome audio system, and the comfiest softest seats I'd ever sat on! And the engine was just turbine smooth.

The Disco has to the Swiss Army knife of the range. If it isn't, I agree with you, they are stupid!

But they still look very different to me.

From the slab sides, ultra square profile, proper stepped roof, flared plastic arches, lopsided rear window and extreme height on the D3, to the castlated bonnet, floating roof and continuous band of flush glass on the Range Rover, there's much more to tell them apart than there is to see that's similar.

I agree

It does indeed have big boots to fill, and as far as I can see it's nowhere near to filling them. I do like it but it's not a proper D3/4 replacement.

How can you tell if you haven't seen it or driven it? The D3 was exactly the same, no spare wheel, no rear opening door, it looks like a transit connect, need I go on??? Then they drove it.

A genuine question for you:

When there are certain items on the D4 that are so good that they are absolute most-haves for any replacement car and the photos and associated information prove that the absolutely ARE NOT part of the new car, what difference will seeing it in the metal and driving it make?

As I've said from a very early stage in the Disco5 speculation.. It'll look very similar to the concept JLR realised before the disco sport! I think you'll all like it Whistle

It doesn't have 3 full size seats in the 2nd row for a start. No doubt it will be good to drive, it's based on the D7u platform as per the RR/RRS2, It's lost basic things like seat belt height adjustment, that to me is just cutting corners and one of my biggest criticisms of the DS. Yes I like it and yes I'll have a look at it but doubt I'll continue with my order.

I can't say I can remember ever adjusting the height adjusters in my D3's or my 4. I'm not the tallest person in the world, but never felt the need to adjust them. My Jag hasn't got them either.

DG: Thanks for clearing up my wish to continue with "must-haves" when paying £50,000+ for a new car! How could I have been so demanding and out of touch?! Wink

I shall let McGovern dictate what I want. He's clearly knows far more about what I want than I do! Laughing

I said last year that we had spoken to a person who was making trim for the D5 and who ran a FFRR and his wife ran a RRS he made the statement that the D5 was that good in his opinion that both the FFRR and the RRD would both be replaced by D5s think that says somthing.

We will all see tomorrow. ...
