Disco lost all power on M6 and batt light appears, any info

Sad It was 5.22 pm on Christmas eve, after 140 miles the engine cuts out and the power steering fails, all i can see is the batt light come on, I pull over on the hard shoulder after a near pile up. After a few mins the D3 starts again and then stops, in the end it did start and got me the to the end of my trip. On Boxing day it was time to travel back the 179 miles, I love the D3 and look forward to the drive home - after 50 miles we grind to a stop again, it seems to be on rough roads [i say rough but we are talking the M6 here, no rocks in sight] something seems loose and once we hit a bump it stops and the power goes. I am returning to Ottons in Salisbury in the morning for them to sort it out, Its only done 675 miles. I am looking forward to some roughstuff driving with you guys, your photos posted are inspiring. Any info please, has this happened to you ? Very Happy Keep on smiling. If you are in my aera drop me a line, Merry Christmas

Idea I did call LR, all they offered was to tow me home, the breakdown man said he did not know what to look for, this did not fill me with joy. I did make it back here and still enjoyed the ride.

So...in the 3.8 weeks you've had the motor prior to Xmas Eve you've done about 275 miles then?

Is this a brand new vehicle ...?

Having just taken delivery of mine, I'd be really hacked off if it died over bumpy roads.

I will be interested to hear what the dealer finds...

cheers

No it had done 675 when it broke down which would have been 535 in the 3.8 weeks, I use a company motor during the week. Its now just under 900 miles. This is the best car on the road today, long live LR

The -ve lead or ground connections sound favourite for the cause. Its been reported before.

Should be pretty obvious to spot the loose lead.

I'm sure you had a great christmas, don't let a measly car spoil it. I am sure when its fixed you will forgive it and enjoy it.

had the same funny stuff happen to me on a mercedes.....after much head scratching, I realised the battery neg connection had been loosened by the alarm/tracker fitter and hadn't been properly tightened.....20 seconds with a shifting spanner and all was cured (however, at least 1 hour of cursing till I found it!)

I'd check the batt connections mr confused good luck and keep us informed Smile
