Discovery 3 2.7 tdv6 cam belt |
|
I have just bought my first Discovery 3 and have pulled the cam belt cover to see if its had a new belt fitted , my question is what belt is fitted factory ? The one on is a Dayco and the writting is still pretty visable , and the belts not glazed , its done 107,000 previous owner said it was changed at 80,000 miles but i have no paperwork or sticker to back this up

12+ years old, it will soon be ready for its second if first one was changed on time It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The guy i bought it off said it was done with pump at 80,000 miles , thats the reason i was asking if the one on is factory or a replacement if its factory then i will get it done now but dont want to if its had one at 80,000 as it would be pointless !!

Every 7 years or 105k miles for a D3, just as important is the type of oil pump fitted. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Dayco are just as good as Genuine LR belts, they are supplied in large numbers from Advanced Factors and such like. If the oil pump (updated type) and belt were replaced at that mileage, and less than 7 yrs ago, I wouldn’t do the belt again just yet. That’s if you can trust the seller D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

My original belt had the Land Rover logo on it, but not sure of name of manufacturer. If no LR logo, then it won’t be the original belt I would say. Also, only a fool would replace the oil pump and then refit the old belt Have you checked that the oil pump is the latest type ? D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. I bought my D3 in May.
“Apparently” the belts were changed in 2015, only 50k ago, I don’t have any receipts or actual proof though.
So I have booked it in today, I’d rather have the peace of mind so I’m sure it’s on point

I'm not sure, but I think aftermarket dayco belts have blue writing.
and factory ones white writing ?
I would inspect the oil pump type on a 2007 to be sure its been changed
