Why are they asking you to prove the fault and then offering you below book value because they would have to pay to check out the fault. Either it is there or it isn't, if it is there then they fix it or sort something out, if not faulty in their opinion, why offer below book as they have already told you there is no fault.
If somebody said to me, we have looked at your car and can't find a fault, but then says we will offer you a low part ex value so we can pay to have it checked. I would be asking what on earth the difference is between the checks they had done and what they were going to pay to have done.
If there is a fault it is under warranty, so they don't pay anyway.
EDIT: I would second what has been said, get Iain (10ForCash) in to check it and if he finds a fault invoice the garage as they should have picked it up. He knows how the systems integrate with each other and just doesn't listen to what the computer says. Many dealers have the "Computer says NO" mentality.

I was told that only I can get the warranty with the car. As they then get the money back from Land Rover. They can't claim the warranty back from Land Rover it has to be an independant person.

I'll third that; TFC uses the computers as an aid to diagnostics, not as the replacement for common sense and hard earned experience.Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?
I'm fairly sure TFC has a job in Essex next week, wouldn't hurt to give him a shout and ask for quote to take a look if he's got time whilst he's down your way The End

In that case you don't need to prove the fault as clearly they have said there is one, as they will be paying to have it investigated. Doesn't show much confidence that they have checked it properly. I would still ask what more they would check then, as they should have already done it when you took the car in.
I think that is rubbish about the warranty, they could do the tests while preparing your new car as you still own the car at that point. The reality is they would sell it and wait for the new owner to find the fault and bring it back.

Manager said as much to my husband. The tech guys at Lookers have been doing what Land Rover has been telling them to check, and Land Rover came down and they can't find it either. Hence why now Chris Orr from Land Rover head office has told us to get indi vehicle examminer to prove there is a fault. Not sure how easy it will be for TFC as it is completely random. The same with everything on my car, random.
If you see it in a showroom, don't buy it!

In that case there is nothing for them to pay for as they have done all the tests, so should give you book price for the car.
TFC is good at linking faults together to identify the real cause.

My D3 has the random chime feature. Seriously though it is the front parking sensor which seems to be affected by something when standing at traffic lights etc. I'm not sure but have a feeling it may be fumes from large vehicles like buses and wagons.D4 SDV6 XS Orkney Grey

AFAIK temp chime along with most of the other chimes were dropped from around 07MY. My 08 doesn't have it but my 05 did
Yes my 57 plate had the chimes but the 58 doesn't. As i have said in my earlier post I do get random chimes from the front parking sensors though.D4 SDV6 XS Orkney Grey
57 plate would be 08MY unless it was 'old stock' SteveThe End

Hi Steve, thanks for that. But my car doesn't have front sensors and the chime still happens even when driving. I have asked rob to check about the temperature feature and get back to me. It's booked in at lookers about the fogs on Thursday. I've also sent an email to TFC hoping he can solve the problems.

It does sound like an earth fault.
I took my D3 to a dealer with the rear door not opening. They spent 2 1/2 hours looking (allegedly) for the fault, then asked me to book it in with them for 2-3 days to trace the fault. TFC had it working in 15 minutes (albeit a temporary fix until the dealer fixed it properly).Disco 5 HSE Lux
