Discovery 3 Uneven Suspension

Hello everyone,

I’ve searched the forum for an answer to my problem but can’t seem to find a post the same as my problem.

Over the past few months I’ve been getting the ’Suspension Fault, Normal Ride Height Only’, which hasn’t been much of a problem for me presuming it was compressor needing some TLC. This weekend I refurbed the compressor (new silica, filters, piston seal and glide ring).

When I refitted the compressor I got all sort of problems but a hard reset seemed to solve most of them apart from now I just get ’Suspension Fault’ and the front axle (driver and passenger sides) is approx 40/50mm lower than the back.

I’m taking it up to my local indie on Thursday to plug it in but does anyone have an inkling what my problem could be? I was wondering if the front valve block is knackered?

You really need to be checking the whole system over for air leaks.
Ok, you’ve refurbed the compressor but it may not have been the compressor at fault to begin with, but a fault on the system will over time damage the compressor.
Get the fault codes read and go from there.
I had ‘normal height only’, read the codes which indicated reservoir taking too long to fill. I dropped the reservoir down to the ground and sprayed it with soapy water and this is what I found.

£100 for a new one and half hour to fit and all is back to normal.

Had similar suspension fault issues, but struggled to find a cause. Eventually, entirely by chance, a small leak from a hole in the front nearside suspension bag was spotted. Have ordered a new bag, hope that cures the problem Rolling Eyes
If it has TIT's or WHEEL's it will cause you problems!! Wink

Thanks for the replies.

I took it up my indy's last night but didn't manage to get any fault codes as his computer is on the fritz, we did manage to reset the suspension though and it is now holding level again, no shift/drop overnight. Had a look underneath on the lift and couldn't hear any leaks, I'll do the soapy water test this weekend. All height sensors are fine, the reservoir does look pretty corroded so i'll have a good look over that.

Is there a more idiotic place they could of put the reservoir especially with no protection from the elements etc!

Gobbler, I don't think it could be a bag as its both sides which are down equally not just one corner, we did have a good look round them and they seemed ok.

I've always loved Land Rover and had 3 different models but this one (disco 3) has really made me question their engineering thought process!

Steve916 you said half hour to fit so I’m guessing you did the job yourself. I’m thinking I’m going I have to replace mine soon as it’s starting to look a little worse for wear. Could you give a little break down description as the what’s needed to do the job & how. Regards landybandy 👍
