Bit better in the light. Just needs a wash and some tyre shine.

Best car I've owned. D4 V8 RHD import next car ?

Delighted with mine, just turned 60k, best car I've had in 45 years of motoring.

For the future I'm pondering an import D4 V8 RHD, I'd be interested talking to anyone thinking the same way ? Reckon once I've worn THAT out I'll be too old to be on the road anyway !!

I've had great help from two super indy workshops, one in Bletchley another in Ballymena, happy to recommend if anyone's looking for reliable, honest experienced techs.

I reckon these D3 V8s will become "Classic Cars".

Happy New Year to all, this forum continues to be a huge help !! Kevin.

I keep having a brief look at Aussie eBay etc looking for D4 V8's but I'll stick.

I think mine will be due a torque converter sometime in the future, just starting to get some slip up steep hills, but she'll be staying as she's just the right combo of rugged working vehicle and smart, comfy cruiser.

Unfortunately looking like I will be getting a company car with a new job but the disco is definitely staying, even if she's barn stored.

My TC lasted until 135k then gave up. I would even consider a new block in mine to keep it!

The engine (touch wood) is perfect, silky smooth, so would like to get her running sweetly all round with a TC.

No judder just yet, only a bit of slip on very steep hills and a slight vibration when absolutely gunning it. I'll look to get it changed sooner rather than later though. Thumbs Up

What your discribing is the stator bush. You are leaking fluid past the TC and making it inefficient.

You prob need a gearbox recon rather than just a tc

When changing oil, are you guys:

- using genuine LR (LR031439) or OEM oil filter?
- using genuine LR (PHE000112) or OEM air filter? Not interested in K&N “performance” filters
- my cabin air filter is a Mann FP2747, with active charcoal and some kind of anti-bacterial treatment and it feels much better than the previous plain paper filter which let odors through that the vehicle came with

Not that I have any scientific data to back it up but since MANN’s cabin filter is so nice I was going to use their air filter, C 31 196, too.

Also, assuming normal driving - are you doing oil changes every 12000 km (7500 miles) or something else?

Edit: intriguingly Mobil now recommends Mobil 1™ FS 0W-40 as the primary choice for motor oil. The cap says 5W-30. Must have changed within the last 12 years Thumbs Up

I’ve done about 9000 km since last change (purchased in September) so I’m definitely needing to change earlier than once a year Thumbs Up

Any thoughts on the oil? I browsed the internet and 5W-30, 5W-40 and 0W-40 seem to be what people put in.

I use magnatec 5w30. Used it in every car I've ever owed in different weights.

Although my 335i took 5w30 too
