most likely a missing connection or water ingress, i.e. corrosion in the module. please check the wiring leaving the TCM.

Is it a 6 or 8 speed box you have?

The 8 speed can have issues with the gear change rotary selector failing

check as previously posted and also how is the linkage on the gear selector cable where it mounts to the gearbox lever - has it seized?

the control unit sits in the engine compartment on the right behind the battery & fuses (LHD), so I assume it is on the left on a RHD vehicle.

From there you need to follow the wiring towards the gear box where it ends in a round insulating sleeve going into the mechatronic.

I suggest you download the workshop manual to get more explosion drawings etc.

you are right, got confused with the transfer box module.

TCM sits inside the auto box with external round plug. Which could cause trouble as well when o-ring is knackered and oil gets into the plug.

yes, it can. you need to take the sump off. but this would be my last action. I guess you are having a wiring issue.

it will help to know what you have checked already. also try a hard reset and report back.
