Discovery 4 Harmonic noise

I have an on going fiasco with an approved used D4 sdv6.

The final item they are refusing to repair after fixing various MOT failure items and parts which did not work after the approved used inspection and MOT missed them before collecting it. They have also already had the transfer box open to fix a leak found on the MOT.

There is a transmission noise which makes a Thrum thrum thrum type noise at following speeds which seems to come in the from the transfer box area.

On A roads up hill better 40 and 50mph it’s audible.
On motorway 60 to 70mph again it’s audible, more so uphill.

After 8 months of them saying it makes no noise, they now say it’s a noise but not very loud. This is on its fifth garage visit due to the special way they carry on.

The reason for not repairing is they are testing random cars from their forecourt and saying they all make that noise. The conclusion by them is it’s harmonics, which I think is utter nonsense.

My other one with almost twice the mileage and not quite a year older does not make this noise.

Do anybody else have such noise and think it’s reasonable as I am completely disappointed.

Thanks for any response you all offer.

Mine does have a noise but I would be able to confidently say its transmission, I think its more from the inside, possibly from the steering column. Seems to be worse on rough/pitted surfaces

I had the benefit of a friend doing the same test route in his D4 with a few less miles and about six months older than my one which is in the dealer at moment.

Not a sign of any noise and just like my high mileage one - quiet!

I think they are trying to blag there way out of fixing it.
