Off Road tyres for my SE TDV6

The wheels are Performance BB-6 model, specified from the tyre company to fit the Discovery 3. (I understand the stud pattern is the same as a Commodore). Wheel strength 1400kgs (Disco standard is 940kgs) My car came with 18 inch wheels.

The five wheels and tyres came to $2,950. I am keeping the Land Rover wheels and the road tyres until re-sale time, or if I want to do a long highway journey.

The new tyres are Cooper ST's 245/70/17s. Can't wait to test them in the bush.

The spare fits beautifully. I understand these tyres are only a few millimetres bigger than the standard wheels. Have a look at my gallery to see the bar problem. Cheers.

Just like this Laughing Laughing

I only regret that I should have gone for the new Cooper STT because I've been stuck in the mud twice now and maybe if I had the mud tyre I could have made it. I swap between using the offroad tyres and the standard wheels when I'm just driving around town and could have lived with the extra noise from the mud tyre.

By the way the Cooper tyre is 15mm taller than the standard Goodyear on the 18" rim.

I paid slightly less than Discovery343 but maybe that's because I'm in Melbourne and the freight cost are less.

Could someone do the Australian $ conversion to UK £s, to give us an idea of what this exercise cost you.

It's not that I anticipate doing really serious off-road stuff with a fully tricked-up D3, but after our D3 day out I considered whether it might be worth having a different set of tyres & rims. That way I could protect the standard wheels and tyres from being dented and damaged, whilst giving me a better grip on the none-damaging days out we are doing (I guess I still wouldn't have been able to reverse out of the lake even with Mud Tyres Rolling Eyes )

Here's a conversion for you Razz
2950 Australian dollars (AUD) = 1,256.9950 British pounds (GBP)
1 Australian dollars (AUD) = 0.4261 British pounds (GBP

Is that a lot of money for 5 wheels & tyres in the UK?
