Took the plunge and purchased an IID tool finally.
Nothing to do with the fact that the check engine light came on when leaving home at 0530 this morning to take SWMBO to the airport.....and my local excellent garage not having any tools that can read a D4 computer! Been meaning to get one for ages, but was hoping to hold off until after our UK trip next month. Oh well.
Hopefully nothing serious - just need the tool to get here from halfway around the world now! King of the typo.
MY11 D4 5.0 V8, Bournville, lots of goodies!
Now departed: '85 RR Vogue, '94 D1, '95 D1, '70 SIIA, '97 D1, '04 D2a. All V8, except for the SIIA - but that drank as much petrol anyway!

Dropped in to my local dealer to visit my D4 which seems to have taken up residence after a minor repair got out of hand...
Seems the part required is on back-order until the middle of June Gordon

Had the dodgy brake switch suspension dropping issue, but it already had the blue and white switch fitted. I couldn't tell if it had a small Land Rover or Ford logo on. The replacement looked the same, but was a jaguar one. Fitted, and fixed the problem too.
Old one was full of black bits, and one contact was burnt.

Fitted the V8 upgrade brake kit today, and then my Beanie grill arrived just after I'd finished so fitted that too.
Got the Borg & Beck kit from Advanced Factors.
Just some gentle bedding in before I see how the brakes have improved.

Fixed:
- rear left wheel still lukewarm, EPB shoes adjusted a bit more
- another messed up heat shield with a larger washer
- brand new wheel arch edge protectors to the rear (CLB000010)
- applied some serious violence to the detachable towing hook, broke the lock since it didn’t want to budge. Replaced the empty hole with a KNG500013
Determined:
- that the rear left lower control arm bushes are completely , probably explains the uneasy steering after the winter and the rattling from the rear
- front lower control arms were still in acceptable shape
- will replace drop-links at the same time
developed a plan to fix the last item in the coming weeks

Did the front brake pads and sensor Casual 5 hour job . A ballache at every turn, including a stuck caliper piston.
Previous prestigious LR dealership that did the brakes must have forgotten to fit the brake disc retaining screw, another reason I wouldn't trust my car with a main dealer.

Sent to the local LR garage to have side steps replaced as they'd started to fall apart. They also sorted the rubber trim on the front passenger door and fitted two new tyres for me.
So ~£600 and I got to walk the 2 miles there and back.
Just waiting for my shiny new key to arrive care of Adam's manipulations .......

In fairness, the disc retaining screw isn’t required.
