Very dull....Cleaned my MAP sensor...woo hoo!
It was not quite spotless, but there was only a tiny speck of gunk in the hole. Gave it a skoosh of brake cleaner just in case. made no detectable difference to the running of the engine.D1 300Tdi - gone

Enabled Cornering Lamps on my new second hand Xenon headlights.
Bought some H8 connectors and wire and pins for the 16 way headlight connector from Simtek.
Cut out the chromed plastic domes that went where the proper bulbs should be with my Irodo SolderPro 70 gas powered thing with hot knife attachment.
Made up the H8 connectors and plugged into halogen H8 bulbs and fitted to the cornering reflector.
Crimped and soldered pins onto the other end of the H8 connector wires
Untwisted the 16 way headlight connector and with much effing and blinding and ably assisted by my Son who was holding a bright torch, pushed the pins into the connector - Pin 4 +12V, Pin 16 -12V. The vehicle wiring was already in place.
Twisted 16 way connector back in to the headlight body, reinstalled in car and Viola! Cornering Lamps.
Cornering Lamps had to be enabled in the CCF using iid tool
Cornering lamps only work when car gearbox is in Drive and headlights are on. (Caused a few sweary words until I realised this for myself as they don't work if car in Park or Neutral..
Job done. First side took nearly two hours, second side took 30mins.
I have some pins left over if anyone needs some...D1 300Tdi - gone

Fitted new rear discs and pads and a front wheel bearing. The steering is noticeably lighter which is an unexpected bonus, there wasn’t much play on the bearing but it made a noise when veering left at speed.
All went swimmingly thanks to Bodsy’s brake bible and the wheel bearing guide, I would be lost without this place😆
Just got a flexible front brake hose to fit and a new rear caliper as the offside piston didn’t want to go back in it’s home, looks like the seal had knackered and it’s rusted.

changed both drivebelts and aux belt
An easy one for me to tick off, I just dropped it to the Indy and grabbed a cup of coffee!!
It went in to Rovertune in Reading today for both belts and the aux belt. £508 later and 4 hours, ready to collect. They specifically advised AGAINST doing the oil cover on my 2005 model and gave assurance over doing hundreds of belt changes without issue. Fingers crossed my trust in them serves me well!
I have no idea when the belts were last done (I’ve owned the car for a month but it came with no receipts). The two drive belts looked okay actually but the aux one was brittle and cracking so I’m pleased I had them done.

After 2 sets of standard wheel nuts rattling I bought a set of solid galvanised nuts a couple of years ago.
They are now rusting so I bought some vauxhall insignia wheel nut covers. Fit fairly well but could have done with pushing on another 5mm for the best look. Still an improvement though.

Yeh they look like some form of tool would be used. They'll do unless I persuade myself to buy stainless nuts. Stainless just rings alarm bells for me from a safety perspective.

Don’t know if this is any help , but I borrowed a set of these pliers from a neighbour when i had the same issue of wheel nut covers that had been put on by the previous owner

So, this was my disco earlier today ....
Courtesy of Flack, from the forum here, had cam belt, aux belt, HPFP belt, oil pump, water pump, and associated tensioners all changed.
Have got to say was incredible to watch him work. Very slick and professional. Whole job done in just over 3 hours including the tea break!
Drive back home was very smooth, and got to say, my fuel economy seems have gone up from the usual 450 a tank to 550-600!
Time will tell how genuine that is, but 100 miles has only eaten an eighth of the tank, so maybe just maybe .....
If anyone is looking to have this done, I’d thoroughly recommend dropping Flack a PM and seeing what he can do for you, even if it only gives you a chance to see his Disco 3; vey nicely set up!
