Covid 19 furlough

Like so many people I’ve been furloughed from my part time job so I now have all the time to finally get to all those jobs on Disco I’ve not managed, first job was to fix squeal from front brakes, fitted new pads about 6 Months ago but I did not put enough copper grease on so they had started to squeal a bit, pulled pads out cleaned clips & pads & regreased all back together & no squealing & no brake dust all over the wheels. Next was the tailgate switch had new one about 2 years but as old one I had fixed was working never bothered to change it, it’s a bit of a mission as wiring on existing switch is really short, decided to remove handle to make it easier to splice & solder the new switch in, all now done & so far ok. Next job was a mega outside clean, jet washed then wash mit, leathered off, then out with scratch remover & polish, sitting on drive now all shiny & looking a lot less scratched.
I have this hatred for chrome on cars especially land rovers, I’ve been wanting to paint the side air vent the same as car since I got her, also the rear wiper arm was very dull & the paint was pitted, below are pictures of parts off car

Before & after painting, did this yesterday allowed them to fully cure & refitted this afternoon, photos below

Great improvement I think.

I have another job to get started on & this one is a big one, I have water coming in the passenger side front which has been ongoing since last October, I have managed to keep it at bay as much as I can but now I have time & can take car of road its time to strip out much of passenger side trim including seat etc to see if I can finally nail this one.

It got a thorough wash today. First wash since early October or so. Wasn’t enough, there’s still dirt on it which showed once it dried. Rather than washing again I cleaned up the interior by vacuuming, cleaning windows, removing dust, etc. the second wash and cleaning of leather seats will have to wait to another day. Thumbs Up

Made a transmission protection plate out of a spare engine undershield. Have never had LR031643, so fashioned one myself. One cut with buzz saw, some straightening in a bench vice, lined up one set of holes in chassis cross member drain, and 3 new ones drilled. Will use original 2 mounting points at front, and chassis cross member drains at rear.
Should be somewhat stronger than original plastic cover, and enough coverage, including fuel filter.
Just waiting for non essential shops to reopen so I can buy some stainless bolts for fitting.

5 hours of graft cleaning and polishing.

Snow foam, wash, tardis, snow foam again, autoglym SRP, then some old zymol carnuba wax.

As if my hands weren't already wrecked from washing all day 😁

Replaced the D3 stalks with D4 ones I had purchased from a gentleman on this forum. Great mod and easy to do. The kids assisted.
