Did a full service on the FBH ahead of the cold weather coming. Long overdue judging by the amount of soot that come out. The Wiki guide was perfect although couldn’t figure how to uncouple the diesel fuel line way down in the engine bay so cut the clip on the flexible hose and put a new single ear clip on when I put it back in place. The exhaust clamp was a real PITA!
Lovely big plume of smoke when it started up using the IID tool priming and test sequences.
Gotta love this forum for all the good advice on here 👍👍D3 - 2008.5MY HSE, Stornaway Grey, RSE etc - all the toys

Fitted some new desicant and o-rings in the AMK compressor after having a warning light on intermitantly for a week or so.
Quite straight forward with the compressor coming out and leaving the mounting bracket in place.

Cut and joined above the exhaust box and new bits right back to the caliper.
Made up one pipe but cut it 3" short, had to make up another

FBH + Frosty morning!
Having only recently got my D3 and reading all about things here on the forum, particularly the FBH.
Looked out the window this morning, and it's been a hard frost, will it work or is my FBH needing sorted?
Went and started the D3, hmmmm nothing, no wheel arch smoke, no noise from FBH.
So I hit it twice on top gently with my fist, and whooosh a bit of smoke and lots of whirring from the FBH and yes when you touch the exhaust outlet it does burn ya fingers!
Now to buy and fit the remote for a toasty engine before using it. What a great forum for info this is!

Your engine will only be partially toasty, oil will be still very cold!
It warms up the cooling fluid, which is only in The heads and around the cylinders.... so top-end...
There is no cooling fluid around the oil bellypan... so be carefull when you drive off..
To have your windows defrosted before you drive off, you need to install and IPCU (webasto or Altox, etc.) to drive your blowers...
Some say, i do not need that... i say, i like that very much!Best regards

FBH and fans
Hi, thanks for that info. I am currently looking at the mod to install the said fan blowers etc, I just thought I'd see if it was working this AM. What a great resource this place is.
Thanks.

if you use another (brand) (even cheaper) W-bus remote, you can still use the IPCU part of this manual to control the vans..
Webasto IPCU(programmed to you motor) can be bought cheap in Germany
or use an Altox..easy UPCU easyer but little more expensive..[/url]Best regards

Finally blanked off my EGRs today had fault light coming on for a while. Found a great place in north Birmingham with a good rep to carry out the software delete then took it home and fitted the blanks myself. Left the pipes and everything intact, removed the butterfly (the hard bit) and cleaned it up, once you have the pipes off you realise how bad this system is for the car.
Took it for a test drive and honestly felt the difference. Got a can of egr cleaner and a fresh bottle
Of fuel additive to drop in next time I fill up to try And clean it out now the EGRs are gone
Also took the opportunity to fit the new bottle jack in the spare battery bay while I was under the bonnet, although will need to look for a new home for it shortly as next on the list is an aux battery

Changed and programmed the Integrated Transfer Case. Now the car is no longer stuck at HI, the green flashing mountain is gone and the car is up from bump stops. A small win.

Replaced rear wiper blade. Went out ready for a struggle, but noticed the pinch points on the clip and the old one was off and and new one on in 30 seconds. Felt like a win !Gary
