Spent a good deal of time to remove the passenger side bumper camera just so I know whether it had 4 pin or 6 and get the part No. (The outer lens was in the process of disintegrating)

Managed to remove and put it back through the spotlight orifice, had to peel back half of the wheel arch liner to access the tabs to remove the spot light, why the hell the designers didn't make the removal of the water bottle from the wheel arch like BMW (previous X5 and 3 series) as it totally blocks access.

Now I have ordered the part (Used) I have fun of doing it all again!!

Spring is here and time for summer tires

After 10 years I finally bit the bullet and got a Discovery again.

Meet "Embla" my Discovery 4 MY14.
The car needed new summer tires so I went for Goodyear Wrangler Duratec 255-55/20.

Before and after:

And of course the mandatory Off-Road mode when parking in a public parking Wink

Only thing I feel that is not good is the high beams. Any tips for new bulbs?

Hello

I started off having a good day.

I made some custom brackets for my trolley jack to go around the the frame. Two size for the different widths.

I then completed the install of a D4 steering wheel to my D3 which is heated and the flappy paddles work too, thank you Blackbox Solutions.. All completed without the air bag going off in my face, which I was worried about.

As it was all going so well I thought I'd go for my first oil change, I have only had the D3 since Jan 24.

So I had to simply remove the undertray. Oh dear, 3 hours latter all bolts out but one which is now round and even with heat and extractors is wasn't moving. Big Cry

So tomorrow we will see how it deals with an angle grinder! Then I'll have to try and drill out the remaining bolt, its all go!.

Another issue was on my test drive I got a low coolant error. I know the coolant is spot on so I think it must be the float in the bottle. So that's another job to do.

Enjoy your weekend.

Removed the Charged Air Diverter valve whilst waiting for a new one.

What was described as failed seal turned out to be a little more terminal. The top part which has the two hoses attached bolts to the middle valve assembly with 5 bolts, sealed with an oval shaped "O" ring set in a groove in the top. An entire section of the aluminium casting had broken away leaving the seal unsupported over a 20mm length.

Not a candidate for a "trail repair".

Changed front discs, pads, sliding pins and LEFT caliper. Turns out the right caliper was duff as well, something I didn't discover until I was trying to wind it in.

Replaced front wheel bearing. Hi pitched scrapping last week, thought it was a rusty brake shield binding on the disk. Couple of hundred mile later decided I’d had enough of the noise so took the wheel off yesterday to bend it off to find the brake disk and hub with WAY too much play. Looking at the state of the one I took off, grateful the wheel was still on tbh.

On a plus side, also swapped out my 2m awning for a terrafirma 270 ready for the first camping trip of the year Smile

United Kingdom 2007 Discovery 3 TDV6 Commercial Manual Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

Hi, Saturday I replaced the NSR wheel sensor so have working suspension and special programs again Smile Yesterday ran 2 cables from the battery to the rear. Cable tied to the loom on the chassis rail by the front strut then got it on the inside of the chassis, along the top to the rear where I popped it up through the aircon blanks. Had forgotten to allow for the short live cable with the fuse to go at the battery end so have a bit more slack there than I would have liked !. Now just need to connect up the DC-DC charger and the lithium in the back behind the LH panel. A little tempted to stick the battery in a box and use an Anderson connector to connect to the charger on the move. Would the convenience of using it occasionally outside the vehicle outweigh the space it would take up connected to the fridge... decisions decisions Smile.

Only a couple of weeks into ownership so far but today I fitted the spare wheel protector, a fridge in the arm rest and some security additions and changes.

Got the emergency tailgate release handle to fit soon as well.

Front and rear Anti Roll Bar bushes replaced. Old ones not so bad as to have much hope that the suspension creak is solved, just one possible cause removed.

Rear bolts a bit of a pig to remove, having cracked them with an ordinary ring they fought until the last turn on all four with only 2 clicks each swing on a 48 tooth ratchet ring yet no rust on the thread at all. Thought they might have threadlocked like the 1 bolt on the front but the new bolts had none on them.

No immediate alternative causes for the noise comes to light. The rear upper swinging arms are very corroded and flaking so may replace these at the same time as renewing the rear brake pipes as the pipework has to be split for both jobs.
