Door Lock Gremlins! 2012 D4 HSE. Any ideas?

Well I seem to be having issues with my door locks on a 2012 D4 - and I cant get my head round it!

For the last 3 months when i unlock the car all the doors unlock apart from the front passenger and I have to lean across and do it by hand (at which point my wife says "this car hates me").

Then a few weeks ago although all the doors were shut (and checked) when i locked via remote, it made the beep beep noise and nothing locked. Then next day fine and back to normal.

Now today (and it was -1 here) when i went out, the drivers door didnt unlock but everyone elses did! So i had to lean over to my side to unlock!! Now when i lock the remote, it makes a clunk noise like the locks are doing something, but it doesnt actually lock the doors! I can still open them, and the alarm sounds!

Weird eh!!

Not sure where to start really? It cant be the remote as that must be as simple as send out a lock or unlock message- which the car then does. And it doesnt sound like the individual doors as its normally my wifes that doesnt unlock and this morning it was mine.. And its tempermental!

Is there some sort of central control unit or console that could be failing?

Unfortunately havent got an iid otherwise id be getting some codes! Although this does make me want to buy one!

Any help getting to the bottom of this would be MUCH appreciated!

The door lock actuator is probably failing or has failed.

Takes around an hour to change and is a little fiddly but its a DIY job to change if you have the tools and space to have the door open whilst you do it. Have a quick search as there are plenty of posts on how to change - its the same process on a D3 but the door card is slightly different to take off to get inside

Ah I see - that makes sense. Is there one for each door? Because surely it would be a bit weird that both drivers and front passengers would fail at the same time?

Or does that happen! Sad

And surely the back doors would still lock if the fronts had failed? This morning nothing locked. Ah but i suppose if the actuator fails it could be sending a signal back saying it cant lock so none of the doors lock..

Not beyond the realms of possibility that both have failed at the same time. When mine failed there were open circuit fault codes registered which would certainly help you prove the problem. Actuators are certainly the first port of call.

I got mine replaced under MotorEasy warranty.
