Dpf anything special to do/de aware of |
|
Well we are 99% certain we will be buying a disco 4, it will be used mainly to tow the caravan and a commuting to work a couple of days a week, the daily commute is about 8 miles each way with this in mind will I need to take it for a longer sustained speed journey to help clean the dpf and does the disco do what the disco sport does where it injects diesel to burn of the particles and can end up changing the viscosity of the engine oil
Any issues or precautions I should be aware of?
Thanks

I’m not stalking you, honestly!
I have little experience of short journeys, but your car will go through a regeneration cycle that will dilute the oil, in just the same way as the DS. The car will let you know when this needs to be done
No need to go for a long run at the weekend, wouldn’t it be simpler to just move further away from work?! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: FL2 as a second car
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

Would be better to retire and spend my time away in the caravan but that’s a few years away yet,
Thanks for all you input by the way much appreciated, it’s a big outlay going for a 2015/16 disco so good advice is invaluable
