Dreaded Suspension Fault - Disco 3
Hi Guys,
Received the suspension fault a couple of weeks ago where the light came on and the fault read unable to lower suspension, clear obstruction. Everytime I restarted the car it would go away.
Its got worst over the time and now the warning is there constantly and says its locked in normal ride height. I can raise the car to full height but then it won't lower and takes a whole day or so before getting back to normal height again.
I presume that the exhaust air from the compressor is being restricted/blocked as the compressor is raising the car, easily.
I've read about the air dryers and dessicant but wouldn't have thought the exhaust air would go through there, I would have thought that was just the intake..
Is there an exhaust valve fitted to the compressor does anyone know or has anyone a drawing of how the hitachi compressor works.

You should begin by having the codes read, otherwise you can end up going around in circles!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I did get the fault code read. I can t remeber exactly what the code was, something like C1A20, which was where I got the failing to exhaust from that was on the screen

It might just need the compressor cleaned up (new dryer silicon and filters kit fitted). Or, it might need much more than that like a new reservoir! Either way, if you are going to tackle it yourself you are going to need a code reader to read and clear faults. So working from memory of someone else's code reader is really not the best way to proceed. C1A20 can be caused by more than one fault!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Code readers not a problem, a friend has got one. My question is more about understanding how the compressor works. Clearly theres no issue getting air into the compressor but simply releasing the pressure from the system. I just wondered if anyone on here had an idea how the system works and where the pressure is released in the system?.

You need to download a copy of the relevant Workshop Manual. In the meantime, take a look at the Wiki, some great infor on there:
