Drivers seat belt needs to be replaced
Morning folks, firstly, happy new year.
Got a slow returning seat belt on drivers seat. I have tried hairspray etcmto get a smoother return but no joy
Had a good look but can’t find posts on the job of changing it. Has anyone done this please? Looking for part numbers, tips tricks and pitfalls please.
I am sure that read somewhere a while back that it’s a tricky job especially if you don’t get the orientation spot on. However I can’t seem to find that post.

trouble was it jammed several times and the buckle took chunks out of the door card leather so that was replaced as well.....over £1000

As in one of the above tagged posts, make sure your replacement belt buckle fits into your seat buckle before you start.

Yep. Top tip and just the sort of thing I wouldn’t do, then upon finishing the job I’d get in the car the next day and not be able to buckle up lol

How do you think I know I swapped my two front seats for leather bolted and wired them in only to have to take them back out to swap The buckles and pretensioners from the old seats.

Drivers seat belt D3 XS 2008
Hi all,
I have read and noted all the excellent info on replacing the drivers seat belt.My seat belt has a frayed piece on the lap belt probably as a result of being caught in the door at some point and needs to be replaced for MOT.
If i source a used good condition belt with the same buckle configuration can i then just change the top part of the belt (re-tracter and Belt) and not touch the buckle unit that is connected under the seat
thanks
Roger

Simply test the buckle on your car before you start taking everything apart, if it clicks in and locks in position then you are sorted. On mine when I changed the seats the receiver on the seat looked the same but it just wouldn’t click in or lock in position. So there must be two different buckles in use.
