Driver's seat issues and a cunning idea that probably isn't.

All my heated seats work in my '05 SE with black leather - except for the driver's, which lights up but produces no heat. I'm assuming there's a broken wire within the pad that needs a bit of joinery.

Since my seat base has the usual wear and tear to the leather next to the door, I've been looking to replace the whole seat, but used ones now are in no better condition. But a thought - is the passenger seat base interchangeable with the driver seat base... or is that too much to be true?

Carry on...

Yes and no. You can't fit your driver side to the passenger side. Simple because there is a sensor/trigger mat inside the passenger cushion. Best thing is to get a second hand passenger seat and use the cushion on your driver side.

You can get a new foam base and seat covering made for you.
And no doubt they'll sort out the electric pad.

That's exactly the answer I was hoping for, thank you. Off to Ebay...

you can swap the seat bases and it is not difficult to move the seatbelt warning trigger/sensor from one base to the other. I did it on mine, swapping the bases over puts the worn/tatty edge against the centre console where it cant be seen.
Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Job complete! I now have a very tidy passenger seat, the original now skipped, but the original base is now in the driver's seat - no tatty outside seat edge and functional heating.

The hardest part of removing a front seat is the physical lifting involved with getting the seat out of / into the vehicle. My biggest mistake was not noticing that the new passenger seat didn't include the seatbelt receiver until I'd tidied everything away. I then had to remove the newly installed seat, transplant the reciever and wiring and start all over again.

My, how I laughed at my own idiocy. Not.
