Drivers Side Headlight - Xenon Issue

Hello All,

I have a 2005 SE V8 Xenon headlights, odd thing happened today. The drivers side headlight will spark but will not actually turn on. This is when directly looking into it. I hope that makes sense.

I was going to remove the bulb but there all these warnings about getting electrocuted!

Any ideas?

Thank you
Devang

Mine did this for a while, and eventually it gave up. Before this did you get a flickering when you turned them off. If so it's the xenon ballast.

Thanks for the response, I wish I had noticed a flickering. Basically I was driving and it began to get dark, and I just noticed the light spread was different. When I got home and checked no light was being generated.

If open the headlight housing are there any visual indicators that the ballast is gone?

Generally no, unless you start geting the components checked in the circuitry.

I wonder if you took both headlights out & connected the other headlight to that connector, if the light would go on. It may indicate the bulb has gone & not the ballast?

Not sure where the ballast unit is on the H/L to be honest, it may even be built into the light unit. Will have a quick check....

Not sure if the LH and RH light units are 'keyed' on the electrical connector or not. But if you can connect them, it would inidcate if the bulb is blown if that also fails to illuminate, then it'll be the Ballast whcih should be replaced as a whole unit.

Isn't that the ballast that is on the underside of the HL unit,, in the squarish box with the 4 screws?

SO I pulled out the bulb and it has a dark spot right in the middle. I guess it is blown.

The passenger headlight cluster worked fine when I switched so happy the circuitry is working.

Off to the store tog et new bulbs!

Thanks for all the help
