Fair one, we have annual travel insurance but it's a good shout.

I'm not convinced I'll be driving anywhere that I'll need a critair pass bit I'll use the map/links provided to double check - many thanks 👍

Turns out I was wrong about the crit'air pass... Most decent sized towns need one. 5 mins on a very well built online form has one on its way to me for just over £4. Not bad. Make sure you go to the genuine French govt portal not an intermediator who will charge you a fortune.

Just in case people haven't seen it, I found this handy map showing any restrictions currently in force. Looks like there's just one for the Alps at the moment but I'll keep this bookmarked on the phone for the trip.

Merci
Thumbs Up

I'm just back from a three week from Bilbao, the Basque Country & Catalonia to Provence & then home via Cherbourg.

I've found having a reminder of speed limits in front of me quite helpful for the first few hours, until they become re-imbedded in my memory:-

We found a lot of 30kmh zones in built up areas, so keep an eye out for those. All were signposted.

And if you are towing a decent sized caravan, such that your gross train wieght is over 3500 kg, it’s 90 kph speed limit.

Gary P is, of course correct Thumbs Up

There are increasing number of 30 kph zones across France. Cities like Grenoble, Lille and Nantes have an overall default limit of 30 kph default limits.

Since the autumn of 2021 Paris is limited to 30 kph, with the exception of selected roads such as the Champs Elysées (50 kph), and the main ring road, the Boulevard Périférique (70 kph).

30 kph is equivalent to 18.5 mph.
