Looking at putting an Aux battery in my D3 to power fridge etc in back, having read umpteen threads I think I’ve got the list of required parts can someone confirm my list, or make any alternative suggestions.

Thanks for the replies
Just need to decide whether to go all out with the Optima/Odyssey or save a bit of cash and use the cheaper Exude option

You will need a load of cabling, terminals, crimps, fuses / breakers to add to your list.

And you’ll need to know the position of the grommet to poke the coat hanger through to bring cables inside. Once you know where it is it’s simples.

And from the front with cables fed through.

The black square item to the right is the solenoid, another way of getting an ignition only connection between the crank and leisure batteries. An easier and simpler option than T-Max system that works a treat.
And on the inside, looking up through the pedals. Rusty bit is the steering column.

With cables in shroud fed through.

Simples, once you know where.

ISTR it’s the hole for the clutch cable to go through so nothing factory goes through. Would be interesting to see where those cables go.
A very useful “fix” I did (thanks to narpy’s (I think) how to ) is make my aux sockets live from the leisure batt. Really useful for charging tech when car’s off. Also allows easy charging of just the leisure battery via a trickle charger.
Remove the relay for the aux sockets (ciggy lighter is on different relay in the D4), put a spade terminal on the end of the +ve feed, pass it behind the radio/HVAC stuff then plug in as in pic.

I'll be doing that once it's all in, be easier to run my radio gear without worrying about the main battery

I've got a T-Max split charge kit I bought of a forum member. Never got around to using it, and probably wont. It's 2nd hand, but complete as I understand it. Any use?Richard

And then wire it up to one of these
All accessories are then run off of this with the right fuses and power distribution. This can be hidden in one of the rear cubby holes and then you can add additional power sockets, in-line switches etc. careful as the ideas can become endless

When fitting dual batteries do you run a heavy duty cable to a rear distribution panel or 're wire the rear sockets at the front.www.pcsupportservicez.co.uk

Heavy duty cable to one of these. Has a fuse box on the back so everything is fused and switched separately. Can also be done for the passenger side panel
