please excuse my ignorance, a colleague has a d4 HSE the same age as my xs, he is able to play dvd's by inserting them into the cd slot in the dash, he also has TV & tuner installed.
I do not have a tv tuner but apart from that it would appear everything else is the same, is there a way of enabling dvd's to play on the screen in my dash? www.southeast4x4response.org.uk Responder of 9 years service SE140

Shouldn’t be too hard James , I’ve just got 2011 d4 xs and it plays dvd
Through the cd slot , likewise I don’t have a tv tuner either MY2012 D4 SVD6 XS (now gone)

Same here, haven’t tried a dvd in the slot but can play files from usb stick. 62 plate xs

Coming back to this, have seen some D4 DVD drives available. Is it possible to swap out the CD player block for the DVD, would we be so lucky that it worked straight off or does it need to be enabled. I have the touchscreen head unit but not nav. I also have the naviplus Apple Car play but would be interested in the dvd drive functionality

I take it the DVD playing would have been an optional extra on the XS?

I'm no expert in this but suggest it could be model year differences. Big updates in Multi-Media from MY12 onwards
edit: The original OP suggests same model year HSE's had this ability so different head units then. If you can source an HSE head unit from a pre-My12 D4 (shouldn't be too costly) then perhaps will work Stolen - D4 Loire Blue
