DVD Installation Kit prices

Does anybody know why this kit costs $249 in US and £470 in the UK ??? How can I find one at a reasonable price ? LR part number is VUB503140 for left hand drive and VUB503821 for rhd. I still don't understand why a left and right hand drive. Aren't the same thing? It's just attached to the roof in the middle!!!

The same reason a DVD will cost you $15 in the US and £15 in the UK: we are getting ripped off for everything Evil or Very Mad

No idea why they are handed though...

OK, I don't mind paying £250 (to keep the same kind of ratio with the guys across the pond) but £470+VAT I believe is just insulting for some plastics and 2 metal brackets!!!

I decided to fit my own and it was the greatest thing I did, for long trips my daughter alternates between sleeping and watching ToyStory, I can listen to my Ipod in the front.

I would highly recommend getting a 3rd party install. Cheaper, better, larger, etc. There is little advantage to the Land Rover branded Rosen "all-in-one" unit.

Now if they had the Range Rover Sport's 6-disc RSES available on the Disco 3/LR3, that would be a different story... of course, our headrests are too small for monitors. Confused

This is exactly what I will be doing! I got this wonderful 12.2" screen with split screen (one can watch a DVD, the other one TV or games) and it should fit nicely onto the LR installation kit. It has even card readers(all formats) so you can see your digital pictures, and could you believe it,...you can unlock it and take it with you to connect it to any TV! Is just the rip off that I am not happy with!!!

minicabelemet, do you have a link to what you will be using? The "install kit" for the kit DVD seems to be very specific for a Rosen based All-In-One system. (Well, other than the basic power and audio wiring.)

If you look in the LR Accessories broshure, you will see that the DVD system has actualy 3 layers from top to bottom: 1st layer has the air con controls, the second incorporates the ultrasonic alarm sensors and the third is the DVD/screen unit. The installation kit would be the first 2 layers, which means you can install any third party DVD all-in-one unit that is smaller than the Rosen system. Hope that helps.

Try http://www.directed.de/video/OHD1202.html
Just click on the pdf file that will bring the owner manual in english.
Or you can try the main site for Directed Electronics and look for OHD1202.

Decent specifications. Post pictures once you complete this install. I've seen the Land Rover/Rosen system installed, and it's not obvious to me how you'll be able to mount that Directed unit on it... it really seems to be "fitted" for the Rosen.

I'll be going tomorrow to my local LR to check if it matches. I hope it does, otherwise, I will have to order a Rosen from LR. Will keep you informed.

Very dissapointed! My dvd does not fit well with the LR installation kit. I did found a very nice salesman from LR to get me the part for £140, but unfortunatelly, if fitted, would look very unprofessional. Sad. I will have to order an LR dvd player/screen. Any ideea how much it costs?
