Drove up to Aberdeen today at about 75mph and noticed I was being 'bonged' constantly for an overpeed warning. I could have sworn that I had always set it to an 80mph warning but a quick check through the info screen showed a 75mph setting.......
On the way back down the road later-on, no 'bongs'
Checked the settings, and it was back at an 80mph warning
Any ideas The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

You were speeding 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Remember that it changes depending on the set of keys you use (depends on model/trim level).
The keyfobs are recognised by the car and the personal settings associated with that key are activated. If it was programmed as being 75mph with on fob and 80mph with the other then it will happily switch between the two.

don't know
but if you are talking about "dynamic" overspeed warning, I would welcome a GPS based system.
My tomtom permanantly show the current speed limit, it is mainly in red and changes to black when i am respecting the limit.
It would be nice to have a speed limit bong according the GPS location, not the fix (or "should be" fix) setting.
Maybe I would use it then for some trips.
Now i rely on the radar detector and tomtom fixed radar/laser warnings.

Good thinking Martin - at least someone is trying to be constructive
However, it was definitely the same keyfob (mine) that was being used both times. I think SWMBO's keyfob is programmed for 75mph though - so perhaps the onboard 'computer' just gets confused.....
Are you suggesting that this switching between two programmed warning levels can happen with just the one keyfob in use? The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

no - i thought it is directly applicable to the fobs.
However, perhaps the last person to use your car before your trip was your wife, which set the bongs to 75mph.
You then used the car, but the car failed to "Lazy Entry" properly and kept it at the last good setting of 75mph
On the return trip it did "Lazy Entry" properly and reset to 80mph.
I have certainly had this problem with my RRS on rare occasions

I thought speed warning was set in settings menu, the key doesn't come into that because you don't need one in do you? DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

She didn't have permission.......
No, I opened with my key, and drove with my key all the time. Her key hasn't been used since the last time she had permission..... The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Was your wife in the car at the time, perhaps with the obligatory half-brick in the handbag resting on the unlock button of her own remote?Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
