Early Service indicator

I'm reasonably new to this 4x4 landrover thing so bear with me.

I bought a Disco 4 in June 2012 as an ex demo car, it was first registered in March 2012. This morning, the "service now" warning popped up which seems a little early. The car has only covered 7k miles in 9 months.

From memory, it should be serviced every 12 months which would be March 2013. Should I get it serviced now or next March as per the service book?

If it were a BMW, for example, there would be an electronic record stating that the car was overdue its service. I guess Discos don't have such a 'feature'

Phil

I may be wrong but is not the D4 service interval like alot of the german cars, ie it will tell yer when it needs doing depending on your driving habbits or is this not wishful thinking Rolling with laughter

I had an X5 when they first came out.....it had a digital countdown bar service-interval indicator, which was based on the cars condition...not mileage or age......when I came to sell it privately 2 years later it still had 3 green bars before the next (2nd) service was due...one guy said he refused it buy it because his "mate" who worked for BMW Rolling Eyes told him it should have been serviced twice by 24k miles...even when the car was telling him it didn't need it Banging Head

Service due indicator in D4 is based on either time or mileage.
Could be that although registered in March 2012 it sat around in Solihull, Gaydon or Dealers before being registered. Worth a call to the Dealer to confirm service is due rather than a gremlin in the electrics bringing up the message early.
D4 system is not like those used by some German manufacturers who use sophisticated algorythms to work out when service is due rather a more simple time or distance programme.

Wouldn't expect dealer to say anything else TBH Whistle

If it was first registered in March, then it should be due in March ie 12 months as you have not hit mileage...
I always thought the service indicator was reset as part of the PDI on new cars...
 Cheers Ian
