| Easy removal of roof rack with air suspension |

Ok - with the bitter taste still in my mouth (no - not all the beers after the boks loss !!) of the engine failure.
Quite easy to remove frontrunner roofrack with air suspension. 1) select off road height 2) attach four ropes to the four corners of rack and attach to roof trussles of garage.3) undo the 8 attachment points 4) select access height and - voila the rack is suspended in the air ! 5) drive vehicle out of garage and lift rack higher in case of accidental collision when wife drives Defender in the spot where Disco is suppose to live !

I fitted a nr 13 socket to a cordless power drill - so undoing the bolts is very quick.
The entire removal probably took about 15 minutes.
I do not think fitting it again will be that easy as one will have to line-up all the brackets - starting with the two front ones which are fixed and then the rest which slides along the rail. Once it has been aligned one first has to tighten the bolts of the brackets and then the ones that fix the rack to the brackets.
I now understand what Anthony tried to tell us at one of our meetings !!
BTW - where is Anthony ??

Hi, you did not say what rails you have. Just a word of caution, if you are using the standard LR roof rail, rather replace it with frontrunner. The standard rail capacity is something ridiculous. You stand to loose your roof rack while going through a river bed - with disastrous consequences for that nice glass roof.

Agree - I have the FR one and it is much better

The S model does not have rails - so I had to get the Frontrunners fitted (blessing in disguise?).
BTW how do they waterproof the system ? ie will water not penetrate into roof where the rails are attached ?

Heine - don't wait for me , my next trip is to Moz in September, but will take trailer and not roofrack. Probably will only re-fit rack in December. If I still have the D3 I will need to get the improved tow hitch, though.
These Frontrunner guys know a thing or two - I can use the same rack for a number of vehicles - only need to get different support brackets !!!!
Everything very quiet on LR Sandton front - I guess this is a case of "no news is BAD news"
