ECO Stop Start Not Availible
My stop/start hasn't worked for as long as I can remember. SWMBO came back tonight saying there is an error light on the dash. Its the ECO light thats lit amber, if I press the ECO stop start button I get a message saying "ECO Stop Start not available" in the message centre.
Any ideas if its something daft before I ring the dealer?MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

I hate the eco thing on my bmw - so much so I bought a diagnostic tool within a day of having the car so I could default it to off! Downright dangerous in my view on an automatic.Mark.

First thing to check is the state of the secondary battery. I give mine a charge with the CTEK every now and again D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Never been keen on it and perfectly happy with it not working but now I have a warning light glaring at me I'm not sure which will be more irritating stop/start or the light MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Any special way of charging it or do I just connect my charger up to it? Mine hasn't worked all year.

Just connect your charger to it, but make sure your charger is set to AGM mode, as it's an AGM battery. For the secondary battery you can connect directly to the terminals, but if you ever need to charge your main battery, always remember to connect the -ve to chassis ground and NOT the -ve terminal on the battery D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

I had a similar issue with a brand new Ford Focus, if I went on a long run on the Motorway is was fine for a day or so after but if I only commuted to 8 miles of town streets it never worked
Seem to recall it was something about the DPF EGR or some other thigamabob not getting hot enough to burn stuff off so Stop Start (eco) was disabled
BTW - All technical terms used where known

There was a software update for the start/stop system. I had it downloaded by LRA at my office, on a previous D4. The 2015 HSE I think.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Mine has just been in the dealers today for the stop/start not working, no lights on the dash though.
They say they have charged the battery and done two updates and now works fine.
Personally I didn't want it working but didn't want there to be an underlying fault somewhere!D4 MY15 (64) SE Tech, Loire Blue

Mine works fine until it goes in for a service, when it comes back from service it never works. They now want it for 3 days to investigate.
Bought the D4 from new and never had a service due indication I have always booked it in as I knew it was due by mileage and it has had 3 services and they always say it will be ok for the next one.
I'm sure they have reset something and now no stop start again, last time it took 6 attempts to get it working and endless trips to and fro.
I think LR have lost there way no loan vehicle with tow bar anymore, so 3 days with no work all because they cant carry out a service without causing issues that were fine before hand.MY18 RRS Autobiography Fuji White
