EGR
I have a Discovery 3 tdv6 2008.
Is there an advantage to blank off the EGR valves?
How do I know if I have a EU4 version? And why can I not blank this engine?
Is it legal to blank the EGR?
How is this registered when doing a computercheck of the car?

from 2007 onwards it seems that blanking EGR is causing errors to be shown on the dash (and in the diagnostics).2013 D4 TDV6 S; Baltic Blue; IID Tool BT

When i have run tests with my MOT calibrated 4 gas analiser they would pass no problems.
@Discoeast is your cars VIN number showing a 6A or 7A ?

IIRC, it's not the blanks that cause the error codes, but that on MY07+ an EGR faultcode will cause the engine fault lamp to illuminate, whereas on earlier models the same error code wouldn't bring the fault light on. Part of the conditions to meet EU4 regs I suppose.Previously:

Do the earlier models still log a fault code?“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Guys I've got an early A7 EU4 that’s also got failed EGR valves and unfortunately cannot do the blank fix due to the MIL light issue. It's just out of warranty and I can see this issue getting worse as more EU4 vehicles become post warranty! So unless JLR have redesigned the EGR (and there has been a part number change so I’m told!) it looks as though we will be stuck with having to change EGRs on a frequent basis if you want to drive with the MIL light off.
So is anybody working on a fix? Although I'm no electronics expert is it possible that someone could design a plug in blackbox that fits onto the EGR solenoid connector replicating the EGR function? That way the valve and inlet butterfly could be removed permanently whilst the engine controls still think the EGRs are working perfectly. Or am I missing something?
Any answers gratefully appreciated.
