2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Auto Santorini BlackDiscovery 4

I had to replace 2 EGR valves on my 56 plate Disco 3 over 6 years of owner ship.
When the fault code came up the third time and it was going to be another £400 I blanked them off.

I already had the blanks as came free with a BAS remap tool. I just never installed them.

I did have to buy the new BAS tool with the EGR blank patch though which cost me another £200 but again cheaper than a new EGR.

I fitted the blanks myself and installed the patch with the new tool and what a difference. Never had an engine light come on since in a year and a half and the car just felt like it performed better. No issues at MOT either.

I would blank them off in a minute. Got a D4 now just out of warrenty so was going to do it again. But I cant aparently as there is no patch developed to go with the blank. Keen to know if others know different

I’m answer to the original question:

Considering that I’ve just come back from picking my wife up from hospital after an urgent treatment for a severe asthma attack, I’d ask if you’ve ever been there when someone is fighting for every breath and if the saving made by disabling NOx reduction hardware is really worth it, considering that it puts others’ health and even their lives at risk?
