Thks DM as always
All over my head , suppose its getting the general understanding how the system works
So is it the PCM ultimately reads the MAF then from that sends a signal from the PCM to the Egr solonoids which then control the amount of % they open or close
Sorry as always for the daft questions
Many thks
Basically....
PCM sends a signal to the EGR valves, telling them to open to a certain value
At the same time, it also sends a signal to the throttle butterfly to close, to stop any fresh air coming in, and to scavenge the EGR system
When this is active, the PCM expects to see a drop in airflow (as the intake butterfly is shut)
If any of this does not happen, or thr PCM receives an incorrect reading from the MAF, stepper motor or EGR valve/s, the EML will illuminateMy D3 Build Thread

apparently some Jap cars have a temperature sensor in the EGR pipe where it enters the throttle.
If the temperature rises when EGR opened, the valve is assumed to be working.
