Elec. Handbrake. Horrendous Squeal! |
|
When I switch off there's a hell of a loud, prolonged screech coming from the rear end, about when the air suspension would usually hiss. Any ideas guys?
Ahh, just used the 'search' facility. 'Screaming' handbrake sounds about right. It's due rear pads soon, should that fix it?

Sounds like the EPB needs to be stripped, cleaned and adjusted.

Ah, I was just about to ask a similar question! I got out of my Disco very late on Saturday night to try and make a quiet entrance to my home after a night out and an utterly horrendous squeel came from somewhere behind the rear off-side wheel! Woke half the village up I think. So it's something to do with the EPB then?
Thanks
Richard

My EPB tells me when it's about to fail - it normally clonks for the last few times you apply/ release it before it its pants. I've learnt to listen for this, and then not apply the EPB until I know I'm going to have time to adjust it. Although this time I paid for new shoes as mine were completely worn and a strip down/total clean. At an hours labour with my local Indy, I couldn't actually be arsed to do it myself 2014 D4 XS
