Hi all,I have had my disco for 18 months and right from the start there has been this annoying noise coming from the engine. It is defiantly mechanical because I only get it when I throttle up as soon as I take me foot of the throttle it stopes. To me it sounds a bit like a slipping fan belt, and at times it absolutely screams especially under load. I’ve had it to a couple of dealers to no avail. I would like to get it sorted soon as I’m going on a 3 month trip and don’t feel too confident with it as it is.

What kind of a noise : whirring, whinning, rattle, squeeking etc. If its a kind of whirring whosshing noise then it could be the fan.
(thats about as technical as I get  ), someone else will come along soon and provide somthing a little more detailed... Duncan

What happens when You set up the dyno???  Have You checked the governor oil?  Just lap the brake and throttle up against it.
