Engine bay washing

After my recent discovery that my disco had spent some time in a ditch at the side of a french field.
I need to do some further cleaning before servicing it. More than likely with a pressure washer from underneath.

Any areas I should avoid?

There are ecu a behind the battery.

They don’t like getting wet.

Best to avoid the top of engine, alternator. Etc

Thanks, fortunately its not too bad up top so mainly concentrating on egr level downwards, the alternator is proper filthy though. Will have to remove the lower fan cowling if possible too.

yeah, but you won't want to do that awful job, just to remove a bit of mud!

Personally the engine bay is the last place i would wash with water. These cars are finicky enough under there without adding water to them (especially with a jet wash) Shocked Good luck fella Thumbs Up

Yep fully agree, but fan removal is not the hard part of the operation, the 3 days after trying to solve the starting and running issues are 😄

Washing the engine bay is fine with a hosepipe/bucket/brush/sponge etc. No really, it will be fine.

No unicorns, fairies or pixies will drown or be struck-down dead.

Engine bay vs water becomes a concern when the suspension has its last gasp trying to find the bottom, just before you find out that a Disco can float for long enough to get you into a serious wonderland.

Thumbs Up

14 years old and never seen a hosepipe!

Why would anyone want to clean an alternator that cannot be seen? -with or without an hose pipe Banging Head
