Engine noise
Over the last week or so I've noticed a slight grinding noise when accelerating a bit harder than usual, say from a slow speed starting to go up hill. To call it a noise would be a bit much - it's more like a quick grinding vibration, felt through the wheel, and barely heard. I've done about 2000 miles now. is this normal, or should I be worried?

Possible, but it sounds more engine related. And (hpoefully) the bearings shouldn't go THAT quick in a brand new car.

I have a similar thing. When engine under slight load eg up hill or towing a trailer and at 2 to 3k revs I hear a 'groaning' type noise from the front right corner along with a faint vibration through the steering wheel. I know the description is not the best but it is difficult to descibe, also after 10 miles or so at 80mph the engine appears to miss quite noticably though of course it's intermittent. Due in with dealers this week so will keep you posted.

That just about describes it, mattl. As you say, it's hard to put into words, but is certainly obvious when it happens. I'll be interested to hear what the dealer says.

without hearing the sounds its difficult to say - but I have a similar thing, felt a vibration and grindign through the front of the car than caused items in the boot to vibrate !!
I replaced the rear discs and pads and it went away.
Also, a rubble/vibration when pulling away / accelerating under load could be caused by the need for a gearbox flush.
Of course, it could also be EPB needs adjusting or stuck calipers.
The feeling of "engine missfiring" could also be gearbox as box cant decide which gear to be in. I had this on way back from Spain last year and was resolved by gearbox flush.Duncan

Left it in with dealer. Couldnt find anything wrong but did give a software update and 2 bottles of wine, stated that would cure misfire - wrong did it again though not quite as noticable. At 80ish the drive/power seemed to pulse at a steady 1 sec interval for 8 miles or so. The 'groaning' sound is still there as well though the engine does seem a bit livelier in the low gears since the update, worth mentioning the dealer said that unless customers complain about the engine/power they aren't updating under a recall.
Will be booking it in again tomorrow.

That pulsing power you refer to is known as surging. It is more than likely caused by the auto gearbox oil needing a change. Can also be accompanied by a low frequency vibration felt through the pedals/steering/floor when accelerating from low speeds.
It is becoming quite a common thing now on higher miles D3's.
I presume you have auto gearbox? ypou have not filled out your profile.
EDIT, I just noticed you have put these in the D4 forum, so if you are in D4's then definitly return to dealer

Well dealer was unable to find anything wrong with my D4, they were very polite and helpful but still couldn't sort it. Only option available is to bring it back in when vehicle is displaying the fault, any ideas as to what may be causing this? To recap, 85mph for 10 miles or so then pulsing in the power which is faint but noticeable on the rev counter. Previously was more like engine was missing but since new software this has gone, of course the fault is intermittent. Oh and a goaning noise under load! Any more ideas, I did mention the gearbox oil but that was dismissed.

There is a SSM from Land Rover regarding a fault with throttle valves causing a misfire at higher speeds.
