Engine problem
When accelerating I had a sudden loss of power with sirene like noise from under the hood.
I have stopped and came to the conclusion that probbebly a turbo hose has snapped.
I decided to drive slowly to the dealer, and after a while the sirene like noise also stopped.
Engine runs quiet now but with very low power. I hope turbo has not died driving to the dealer.
Any ideas?05 TDV6 HSE AUTO 7seats, tonga green/alpaca, alpine roof, privacy glass, tow kit, wood kit, 20" stormers n summer, 18" in winter, fancy exhausts, rear seat ent., club fooked turbo!

No messages on dash.
More smoke when it just happened.
When sirene like sound stopped, no more smoke then normal.
I had a blown hose on my 300tdi once and it sounded like a huge hairdryer. But there was no hairdryer sound on this one.
Does engine management shuts down the turbo when hose is blown?
It worries me that I do not hear air blown around the engine bay.05 TDV6 HSE AUTO 7seats, tonga green/alpaca, alpine roof, privacy glass, tow kit, wood kit, 20" stormers n summer, 18" in winter, fancy exhausts, rear seat ent., club fooked turbo!

Turbo shaft broke in two.
I will go and see tomorrow if it was on the cold or the hot side?
I hope it is on the hot side.
The sirene I heard were the two broken halfs grinding each other at high speed.
all this while 2 months out of extended warranty
This is my third Landy.
My first Range Rover 300 tdi never missed a beat.
With my second Range Rover (p38) I was as much under the car than in the car.
My disco 3 seems to go down the same road.
I have never taken it off road, and use it most on long streches of motorway.
so it had an easy life.

To be fair though, its the first time I have ever heard of the shaft breaking. Its usually the VNT mechanism that seizes up, causing most failures...
Try the dealer and see if LR will do a goodwill gesture, seeing as how you have had another 2 products already My D3 Build Thread

Went to see the turbo (still on the car) and saw the shaft is broken in the middle.
So if there are any debris, it will be in the oil not in the intercooler.
And its with the old turbo mounts so will be a pita to remove.
Dealer will see what he can do, he ordered a recon. turbo to keep the costs down.05 TDV6 HSE AUTO 7seats, tonga green/alpaca, alpine roof, privacy glass, tow kit, wood kit, 20" stormers n summer, 18" in winter, fancy exhausts, rear seat ent., club fooked turbo!
