Today at 4pm, 40km from town and 'bong' "engine systems failure"
Loss of power, then no power.
Tried to start but it seemed to be not getting any fuel. Fuel gauge just above 1/4. Range 250km.
Let it sit until the clokc had disappeared and tried again.
No warning message but still not starting.
Rang RAC. Tilt-Bed came at 6pm and now we're back at home.
Rang Southern Land Rover. Said they'd had some where the same thing happened and the fuel sender was stuck and the car had run out of fuel.
Not very happy, but I hope it's this. Tomorrow I'll put in 20 litres and see if she starts.
Otherwise it's on a truck to Perth  God alone know's what that'll cost. (Out of warranty).
Any thoughts?
If it is fuel starvation, will I have to bleed her?/ (better find some leeches) Have a nice day!

I feel for you. 
I had a situation, some months ago, where after bottoming out, the fuel tank was dented & the fuel sender unit was dislodged. A didn't realise it was sending false signals until the car stopped.
What gave me the clue was when I saw that the fuel reading was higher than when I had started out.  (someone else was driving at the time.)
Luckily, the tank was straightened by the dealer & the sender repositioned. They did, however, fit a new tank guard.
Might be worth a look in your case.

Put 20 litres in her this morning. After a a few attempts, the motor fired up.
Went to the fuel depot and put a further 69 litres in the main tank.. That's a total of 89 litres. So she was bone dry!
Now the fuel gauge reads just under full, whereas normally it would read above full when full. So there's definitely something wrong with the sender/s.
(PS. I find it all a bit wearing. This car is undoubtably the best 4WD around and I think it is just as reliable, if not more so, than any jap 4WD, but i'm starting to get p*ssed off with these little things that go wrong such as this, the steering wheel, the door locks etc etc. I don;t mind the off thing, but I've got a good list of the minor 'hiccups' that this vehicle has had. I paid over $100,000 for this car and I expect a bit better quality of parts used; and I expect a lot better service than I've been getting.) Have a nice day!

I have the very same thing - bent fuel tank-guard has played havoc with the fuel sender and the gauge never reads below 1/2 a tank (I wish  ).
At least I've now got the refuel/restart procedure down pat. I might look at bracing the guard around the sender unit.

I think all new 4wds in Oz are compromising ground clearance for highway performance.  I guess, with the way that most 4wds are used, that should be expected.
On the plus side, Jamo, at least you don't have to trailer the D3 to Perth.
BTW: You are lucky that you were able to prime it, when it happened to me, neither I nor the NRMA could prime it. Consequently, it had to be trailered to the dealer. Thank god for LR Assist!

Oh well, once again I must have been in la la land thinking I would have no issues with a LR, 
Every one I have owned has had issues I know how Jamo feels 
Eneyway its the price you pay for such a well preforming vechle

I like la la land too 
I just get annoyed with the niggles in an expensive car.
Still, I pulled up next a two year old ML350 yesterday. The coating on the outside of the rear pillars was peeling away badly and it looked cheap.
I suppose no matter what the car; good quality in some areas usually means poor quality in others. My opinion is that this should not be the case in cars that cost so much. Have a nice day!

I agree the issues are a pain, and other makes all now have issues too,
On the whole the good points outweigh the bad, that is why I still drive a D3.
