I too have this problem on my Disco 3 - "Engine system Failure" and serious loss of power and various other warning "transmission" + "park brake" probs plus others and Dynamic Stability Control warning comes on. I switch off and then start again and it is OK for a while until it happens again so cannot attempt journey of any length. I have had the fuel filter changed but it has not rectified the fault at all. I should be very grateful to know if anyone has solved this problem or knows what the real cause is please? kennard.douglas@btinternet.com

Thanks KD, London

Dear Douglas, no one seems to know, including LR engineers. Just use the procedure to restore the catalytic exhaust. Drive for 20 minutes at rpm 2500-4000, at a speed around 70 mph, it usually stops the problem. At one point the LR engineers lubricated the turbo actuator, but the problem came out again after a short while.

Many thanks for your information and suggestion. The vehicle has been with the Land Rover garage for about a week and they are very quiet! I will post what happens. K

There are 'how to' posts on here for freeing off the turbo actuator, seems reasonable that it might get a bit sticky after being left for a fortnight.

KD, have you checked your brake light bulbs / brake switch.

I have a trailer that has a slightly dodgy connectiuon, if I am not uber careful plugging it in then all is fine tlii I press the brake, then everything in the dash lighs up. Do your faults occur when you first press the brake pedal?

I have had persistent 'engine system fault' powerdowns, durned out to be a blown sidelight. A very delicate system.

I know this is an old thread but:

I have a 2009 Disco 3 and had this same Engine System Fault. I had not used the car for at least 4 weeks. The clue with the First post was the car had not been used for 10 days.

In another thread it said this issue was caused by a low battery.

I charged my battery overnight with a smart Charger and it seems (touch Wood) to have fixed the issue.

So if you get this try fully charging your battery over night before you open your wallet

My first reaction when reading the start of this thread was to say , charge the battery.
