Have got all the common symptoms over the past year and now got worse and worse. Have changed the fuel filter twice, cleaned the MAP sensor etc all with no joy. Have bought a HPFP and should be arriving within the week but I work at sea so can't get to change it for another 6 weeks!! I have PM'd one other member from here who had the problem and he cured his with the fuel pump in the tank being replaced. Mines an 05 with 68000Kms.Will let you know results when I get the pump changed!!

Following this thread and advice about Map sensor cleaning.
I unscrewed and pulled off the sensor this evening and cleaned a small amount of gunk off. Didn't go into the hole just cleaned around the edge.
Used tissue paper only should I use a spray of some kind also, or will this sufficient.
I note the use of T2 in some of the messages. I too have been using T2 but not regularly, could this have meant there not being too much gunk.
I do have problems with the car kicking out black smoke and feels as though the car is being strangled at times and needs a kick to get it going, just like a lazy horse I suppose.
I changed the Intercooler hose last year for a Cool Blue colour should the other hoses be changed also turbo etc??
I approached a local garage thinking about the EGR valve, should I replace or just blank. I was told blanking is easier and less expensive to do??

Always blank where possible. Much easier, and a lot lot cheaper
The existing hoses do not seem to give much trouble as yet, but AFAIK, the 2 smaller ones are not available on their own yet, only as part of the 3 piece kit My D3 Build Thread
